Is this for you?

From the outside, life looks fine.

You can feel something calling you, just past the edge of your awareness, and you can't quite name it.

Maybe you've been the one who holds it all together. The caretaker, the problem-solver, the person everyone counts on. Somewhere along the way, you stopped asking what you actually want.

You've wondered whether purpose is only for certain people, the ones who knew since childhood, and whether it's too late for you.

You want to be of service. You want to be fully used. You want to wake up with something that feels like it's actually yours.

And the quiet dissatisfaction you've been managing for years is getting harder to ignore.

We're all living a purposeful life. The question is whose purpose you're living.

The purpose handed to us by our families, our culture and the economy we were born into is a purpose. It just isn't necessarily ours. And you can't solve your way to your own. Purpose doesn't live in the mind. It lives in the body, in the heart, in the patterns you can't see because you're standing inside them. Finding it is a journey that goes down and in, not up and out.

Your guide

A fellow traveler, a little further down the same road.

For years I was a startup executive and consultant. Then a health crisis cracked that life open. The title, the strategy, the relentless doing all fell away, and what remained was a question I couldn't answer with my mind: who am I, really?

That question led me into purpose work, first as a participant in my own purpose discovery journey. Even halfway through, I wasn't sure everyone had a soul-level purpose. Maybe that was for certain people. I was a business guy in my early fifties, and if something was meant to click, I figured it would have by now.

On my own soul quest, a day alone in nature with the question, I received an image. I was in a cave, holding a torch, walking beside someone. At every intersection I'd ask, which way do you want to go? I wasn't scared. I just knew I was there to hold the light.

A few days later, in meditation, I went back to that cave and asked what I'd been doing there. The answer came simply: helping someone find their own way. Not leading. Not directing. Holding the light so they could choose.

And then it hit me. I'm a guide.

By the end of that journey I knew, in my bones, that I have a soul-level purpose. I went on to train as a purpose guide so I could walk beside others through the same territory.

Since then I've guided more than a hundred people through this kind of work, including more than twenty students training as purpose guides. I don't hand anyone their purpose. Nobody can. I walk beside you through territory I know well, hold the light when it gets dark, and reflect back what I see.

I live in Cascais, Portugal, with my wife and our two kids, and I write about purpose and the shift from striving to being on my Substack, Purpose, Polarity & Paradox.

The journey

Six months, one phase at a time.

It isn't a course you consume. It's a process you live through. We meet every two weeks, and the real discoveries happen in between, in your daily life, your relationships and the quiet moments when something true rises to the surface.

  1. Foundation

We create the conditions for deep listening: a daily practice, a sacred space in your home, an orientation toward soul rather than strategy. You start to notice the difference between what the world told you to want and what's actually calling you.

  2. The Descent

We go beneath the surface, into the roles, beliefs and patterns you inherited. The ones that kept you safe but may no longer serve you. Not to throw them out, but to see them clearly, so you can choose rather than run on autopilot.

  3. The Soul Quest

Eight hours alone in nature. No phone, no agenda, no one to perform for. Just you and whatever comes. By the time you reach it, you'll be ready for what it reveals.

  4. Integration

We weave what emerged into language and direction: your values, your gifts, your offering to the world. Not a slogan, but a living sense of who you are, gathered into your own Purpose Octagon. Along the way, when you're ready, you'll let a few people who love you see what's emerging. Being truly seen is part of how it becomes real.

Where are you on your own octagon?

Your purpose has eight facets. Most people think it's their job, but the work you do is only one facet, and honestly the last one. Eight quick questions, one per facet. There's nothing to figure out here. Just notice.

Vision

Pick the one that feels true for you right now.

Built on the Purpose Octagon framework from Jonathan Gustin and the Purpose Guides Institute, where I trained, and adapted into my own way of guiding.

What changes

What I've watched happen.

People come to know themselves at a depth they'd never been given room to reach.

The old, inherited idea of purpose loosens, and something truer comes through underneath.

A kind of peace settles in. Life starts to feel less like random circumstance and more like a quest with a shape and a meaning, even in its hardest parts.

From that place, people step past fears they've carried their whole lives. They start mission-led work, move across the world, and find their people.

In their words

From people who've walked it.

“More than anything, I got to know myself better as we worked together to dig into and unravel my deeper soul-level Purpose, the guts of why I’m here and what I’m here to do. … After working with Jon, I am now creating my own aligned business.”
Jay D.
“It has been a heart-opening and transformative experience. You created a space where I felt free to speak from my soul without judgement.”
Kelly L.

Founding places

I'm keeping it small for now.

I'm guiding a small number of founding participants through this journey as I make the work my own. Founding participants receive the full journey at a founding rate, and help shape how it's offered to everyone who follows.

The first step is the free two-minute assessment above. It shows you where you are on your own octagon and gives you a personal Purpose Map. From there, if it feels right, we can talk. If the journey isn't the right fit, I'll happily point you toward whatever is.

Already know you want to talk? Book a call directly.

Questions

Before we talk

Do I need to have some idea of my purpose already?

No. Most people arrive with a feeling rather than an answer. The not-knowing is exactly where this work begins.

Is this career coaching?

No. What you do is the last facet we explore, not the first. We start with who you are. When that's clear, what to do with it slowly becomes obvious.

Is it spiritual or religious?

It's soulful, and it involves listening inward and time in nature. It doesn't require any religion or belief system. Skeptics are welcome. I was one.

How do the sessions work?

We meet one-to-one by video for 90 minutes every two weeks. Between sessions you work through the module, practice, write about what's surfacing and track your journey.

What does it cost?

The discovery call is free. Founding participants receive the full journey at a founding rate, and we'll talk about it on the call, once we both know it's a fit.
